About Us: Web Mentors

Who's Creating the Web Site? Teachers Network Web Mentors!

Since April 1996, The Teachers Network has selected “web mentor” teachers who have helped build the Teachers Network web site on the Internet, and position teachers as recognized international leaders. These teachers take a leadership role in the future of the World Wide Web on the Internet. They serve as a core constituency of caring and knowledgeable educators developing materials and integrity on the Internet. They bolster teacher professional development and engage teachers and students in accessing and assessing new resources and media.

This position requires teachers taking responsibility for growing Teachers Network and for helping other teachers, students, and IMPACT II site directors use the web site. Teachers Network web mentors are selected based on the following criteria:

  • A passion for learning and teaching and an ability to motivate and lead educators and students.
  • An identifiable expertise, along with a proven ability for designing and creating curriculum.
  • A willingness and commitment to collaborate with students and teachers on designing projects on the Internet.
  • A willingness to contribute articles or columns on a range of topics—subject-specific, student-centered projects; reviews of the latest software; and funding opportunities.
